A Big question that people who are new to Christianity and new to the faith may ask is, what is salvation? This is a big topic in the Bible and even though it may seem simple, it is actually a very deep topic.

The word salvation is found more than 150 times in the King James Version!

But what does this word really mean? To understand what this word means, we have to understand the language that the Bible was first written in. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, which is a language that Jesus spoke, along with Aramaic and possibly Greek. The New Testament was written in Greek. In Hebrew, the word Salvation is yᵊšûʿâ (yeshua), which means salvation or to be saved. Also, keep this in mind, Yeshua is the name of Jesus in Hebrew, so Jesus’ name in the language he spoke means salvation or God saves. In Greek, the word for salvation is sōtēria, which once again means salvation, preservation, or safety.

But now let’s talk about what salvation means to us today. Of course most of you will know how God created everything. He created the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, and everything that you can see. At first God made two humans, who were Adam and Eve. God made everything perfect, including Adam and Eve. But both of them, the humans that God made Himself, decided to sin and to turn away from Him. Causing Adam, Eve, and all of humanity to fall away from God. Then about 3,400 years later, Jesus the son of God, came down and died for our sins so that we can be saved.
